FIRST CHRISTIAN CHURCH

OUTREACH COMMITTEE

The Outreach Committee is responsible for involving the congregation in service to the global and local communities.  Local: cooperating with community social service agencies (e.g., Hamilton County Red Cross Food Pantry), administering the congregation’s Benevolent and outreach funds, offering seasonal assistance to the needy (i.e., Thanksgiving and Christmas baskets), informing the congregation about current social issues, etc.

Global: promote the annual special outreach offerings (Week of Compassion, Easter,  Thanksgiving, Christmas), conducting work projects, resettling refugees, etc.

CHRISTMAS OUTREACH

Our church family will again be reaching out to approximately 20 families during the Christmas holiday.

With your help, we will be collecting non-perishable foods and placing them on the shelves by the library or setting them against the wall across from those shelves.  Then the members of the Outreach Committee will purchase the perishable food items and dividing the donated items up just prior to having the families to come to the church and picking up their boxes of food.

We will add gifts for the families along with the food.  A Christmas tree will be set up in the narthex with paper angels hung on the tree.  Each angel will have the number of the family, the age of the person, male or female, and clothing size for the garment requested.  We ask that you take an angel(s) off the tree, purchase the item, wrap it and attach the angel securely on the wrapped gift.

The members of the Outreach Committee will assemble the food and gifts by families in preparation for the families to pick-up.

Please join the “joy” of doing for others as our church reaches out with the “love of God!”

FOOD FOR FAMILIES

We often have families stopping to request food.  So the next time you are grocery shopping, buy a little extra and bring in for our shelves to help others!  Such items as soups, cereal, tuna or chicken, pork & beans, mac & cheese, green beans, corn, muffin mix, etc. are always good items.
